New mixtapes from Kingdom, Teen Witch, Com Truise, & Dom!

It's Mixtape Day here at the EB offices! We're always hungry for audio to shriek and yell about like brutes, and today we're definitely having plenty of auralgasms thanks to four new mixtapes. Kingdom's is perhaps the most surprising: it's for a video game. The Fade To Mind head was chosen to curate a mix of dark, cutting-edge club music by the makers of upcoming game The Darkness II, and naturally features killer selections like Nguzunguzu and Fatima al Qadiri. Download it here. Teen Witch's mixtape is not surprising it all; we already knew we were gonna love it. The Chicago CULTist (who just released the first issue of his reconceptualized-culture magazine....buy it!) has put out a special compilation for Opening Ceremony that's full to the brim with the sort of mutated pop madness we expect from him, including a few choice edits.

Teen Witch Chatroom Crush Mix

Meanwhile, Dom (of Mount Kimbie fame) made a mix for the radio show NST. It can be streamed here about an hour in and features EB faves like Death Grips, MikeQ and The Bug. If all of this bass is making you too hyper, cool down with Com Truise's Check Yo Ponytail mix below, which features plenty of '80s minimal wave nostalgia.

Daft Punk working with Nile Rodgers

Nile Rodgers of legendary disco band Chic is going to be in trouble... well maybe not trouble exactly, but the dance music veteran has let it slip that he is working with Daft Punk on the French duo's new album. In an interview with Houston's Culture Map when asked about the band Rodgers said; "Those guys are great. . . they're coming to my apartment on Monday and we’re going to talk about making a new record together." Which is a lot more that we are likely to hear from the helmeted duo who's most recent album was nearly decade ago (not including the rather mixed Tron soundtrack). More information when we find it but rumour has it that there is a strong R&B theme...

Kraftwerk play live, on Twitter and WipEout 2048 plus BBC guest mix by Daniel Miller

Although they're in their 42nd year Kraftwerk is still the benchmark for electronic music. Last year they premiered their video installation 'Kraftwerk 3D' in Munich's Lenbachhaus, and the pioneer's of electronica won't stop there. During Miami Music Week 2012 Kraftwerk will be headlining Ultra Music festival on March 23rd, which is big news hence the rare number of Kraftwerk live shows.

Also, the Düsseldorf outfit is now on Twitter, so feel free to follow @Kraftwerk. And last but not least, they were just announced as part of the WipEout 2048 game soundtrack again with their track 'Tour de France', slightly edited for WipEout.

Most recently, Mute Records founder Daniel Miller guested on Mark Jones' BBC 6 mix programme, sharing his deep knowledge of Kraftwerk in an interview and spinning loads of music by Les Rhythmes Digitales, The Normal, lots of Kraftwerk, and Afrika Bambaataa. Also on the show: Factory Floor, who later played a guest mix of their own including tracks by VCMG, Neil Young, and Chris Carter.

Listen to the BBC 6 mix Kraftwerk special with Daniel Miller and Factory Floor for another 5 days over here, and check out Thomas Demand's review of 'Kraftwerk 3D' (taken from the most recent issue of Electronic Beats magazine).

Some Visky?

Prague’s buoyant nightlife of the 90s when international DJs and dance music stars flocked to the Czech capital by dozens has somehow waned since the turn of the millennium. Quality dance music has been mostly centered on the small houseboat Bukanýr and the city’s voluminous scene has shrunk somewhat, but this doesn’t stop enthusiasts from building something new.

Visky Recordings arrived on the scene without much hubbub last year, releasing vinyl records and orienting itself on dancefloor-friendly tunes. “Visky Recordings is a Prague based label reflecting the love for house and good records,” they claim. Following their debut EP by Boris Hotton, a mellifluous and melodic house offering which dipped in dubby territories, the Visky crew is back in Spring with another wax – Paskal & Urban Absolutes’s EP Our Smile In Your Face featuring a classic house remix by Farside’s Henry L.

Paskal & Urban Absolutes's Our Smile In Your Face is out on 1 March.

Videodrome #39 - This week's best videos

Right, last week was a big week for music videos and we already shared our love with the new videos from M.I.A., Madonna, Miike Snow and Dylan Ettinger, plus celebrated the premiere of Kris Menace's Falling Star video. But there is much more to explore in that vibrant music video genre:

#1 Holograms - ABC City (dir.?)

This rocks. Holograms are from Sweden and still unsigned. If you run a label go and sign them: NOW.

///

#2 Light Year – Moderation (directed by Costa Vakas)

Aussie producer Light Year is clearly one to watch. His sound is about true acid house with sweet vocals on top. His debut EP dropped earlier this month.

///

#3 Warm Ghost - Myths On Rotting Ships (directed by Jay Buim & Paul Duncan)

If you can handle some puttering synths and a good dose of soothing chill wave, then Warm Ghost could be your desire. Track is from his last year's album Narrows.

///

#4 Los Llamaradas - Too Late The Possible Lab (dir.?)

Monterrey's most wanted musicians Los Llamaradas are about to close down their music business, thanks to the bloody drug-war going on in their neighborhood. Have a final listen.

///

#5 Napolian - False Memories (dir.?)

Distorted beats by 19-year-old Los Angeles producer, Ian Evans aka Napolian taken from his Rejoice EP, which is out today via Software/Mexican Summer. This newcomer has definitely got some talent.

///

#6 Dubkasm ft Rudey Lee & Solo Banton - Emotion / Are You Ready (directed by Gary Thomas)

This is Bristol’s Dubkasm and Rudey Lee, who recently linked up in the studio to produce this groover, which is part of forthcoming Emotion EP on Sufferah’s Choice Recordings.

///

#7 Lil B - I Own Swag (dir.?)

Lil B aka The bassgood is back with just another funny video from the sunny US-westcoast. We can't count the amount of videos the L.A. rapper has already dropped but one thing is for sure; we just can't get enough.

///

#8 2morrowsvictory - Parallels (dir.?)

According to 2morrowsvictory facebook, this band hails from southwest London. This lovely video, made for their 'Parallels' track is their first visual statement from the upcoming #Odeon EP.

///

#9 Jazzanova - I Human feat. Paul Randolph (dir.?)

EB-favorites Jazzanova just released their first video from the forthcoming full length entitled Funkhaus Studio Sessions which will be released through the reanimated Sonar Kollektiv label in may.

///

#10 Krazy Baldhead - Surabaya Girl (directed by Flashbacker)

The highly-anticipated single from Krazy Baldhead came out today on Ed Banger Records. The EP includes remixes by MYD (Club Cheval), Tropics, and Victor Aime.

ManiaMania: The Modern Utopian

Nothing satisfies quite like chunky metal chunks of occult-flavored metal. When you combine it with Dree Hemingway, however, it becomes something wholly special. Australian label ManiaMania have it all wrapped up with their new line The Modern Utopian; with its '70s cultist influences and materials that include black tusks, brass and quartz crystals, it's enough to make any dawn golden. While I'm not in love with the handbag (the label's first, a satchel that strikes me as a bit too ren-faire) the necklaces are simply phenomenal. View their lookbook on the right, shot by Stacey Mark.

With the release of David Guetta’s fifth album creeping closer and closer, more songs have been leaking due to anticipation. This one features vocals from pop singer Sia (although allegedly Mary J Blige was supposed to feature). It’s not as hard hitting as Guetta’s older stuff, but I am sure it will still be a hit. Other tracks featured on this post are another massive track from Hardwell, a remix from Mord Fustang, and a new Hook & Sling tune.

David Guetta – Titanium (ft. Sia)

Froidz – Finally (Mord Fustang Remix) head banger

Goodwill & Hook N Sling – Take You Higher (Club Mix) ***favorite of the bunch

DJ Fresh ft. Sian Evans – Louder (Hardwell Remix)

Redshape joins 3024

Redshape, the German producer who is never to be seen without his red mask, is about to drop 'Throw in Dirt' on Martyn's 3024 imprint. Paranoid, discordant machine funk that jitters and jerks we cannot decide whether we prefer the in your face chang of the title track or the more reserved, but still quite odd 'Land'. The record is Redshape's second outing for 3024 - he remixed Martyn's 'Seventy Four' back in 2010 but this brace of technoid work-outs represents his first original material on the Dutch label. Take a listen below and don't forget to take a look at our Slices features with Martyn and Redshape.

C:\Program

I promised myself I would not post another remix of Avicii’s “Levels.” TheFatRat’s remix is just to good and is definitely on my top five. Enjoy

This song was sent to me a few days ago and it is absolutely incredible. I am a huge Arty fan but in my opinion this is much better than the original…hard-hitting right from the beginning. This is an absolute must-have.
